Video premiere: Tindersticks - Black Smoke

A special treat for all of you. Tindersticks just released a new video for the song Black Smoke. Stylish, as we would come to expect, this was shot in Le Chien Chanceux by Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth, who have also worked with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds on a couple of videos (Midnight Man, Dig Lazarus, Dig)...

We'll be back this saturday + some show history

...thank you for your patience and understanding. Playlist for saturday's show will be up next sunday...

In the meantime, if you feel like having a bit of a laugh, you can check out our - really - old webspace right here. Built from scratch in pretty basic html early 2000, 2001 we would guess. That site has not been updated in about seven years. There's a few older playlists there. It is nice to see how the show developed in what it is today. You can also find some - text - interviews, pictures and links to a Cro-Mags fanpage which our host Miguel (a HUGE fan of this legendary hardcoreband from New York) built. Almost forgot to mention the - almost - complete Sam Kieth bibliography. You don't know who that is? Shame on you, one of the best comic book artists ever. Anyway, since Miguel forgot his login-stuff, he can't delete the page, so he thought it would be fun to share this Tegentonen -1.0 with all of you. Nice to see he decided to keep things concise this time around...

Our second show this year and a weird one it was. Besides a few new tunes by Tindersticks and Das Racist, we played a lot of Jay Reatard-material. As you probably know, Jay died last wednesday. Our way of paying hommage to this guy's material? Well, we did something we haven't done before in the 12 year history of the show: we played an entire record from start to finish. In this case: Jay Reatard's Blood Visions. Oh, and check the playlist for a link to Reatard's version of Nirvana's Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle, probably one of the last things he recorded.

01. Kyuss - Gardenia
album: Welcome To Sky Valley
02. Tindersticks - Falling Down A Mountain
album: Falling Down A Mountain
03. Das Racist - Rainbow In The Dark
check it out here
04. Jay Reatard - Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle
free download @ jayreatard.com
05. Jay Reatard - Blood Visions
We played the full record. All 15 tracks

Jay Reatard RIP

All of us here at Tegentonen are shocked by the death of Jay Reatard, who died in his home in Memphis, Tennessee today. He was only 29 years old.

To honour the guy's music which is nothing short of awesome, this saturday we'll be playing the entire Blood Visions-album on our show. RIP!

Happy new year to all. Tonight was the first show in the new year. We started off looking back on some sad passings in the last days of 2009: The Birthday Party's Rowland S. Howard and Vic Chesnutt. And we looked forward to 2010. The new year was literally just a few hours old, when Chris Cornell announced that Soundgarden would be reuniting after a 12 year absence. Furthermore, we played some classics from My Bloody Valentine, Massive Attack and a brand new track by Tindersticks.

01. Soundgarden - Head Down
album: Superunknown
02. The Birthday Party - Six Strings That Drew Blood
album: Mutiny/The Bad Seed EP
03. Vic Chesnutt - Coward
album: At The Cut
04. Kitty, Daisy & Lewis - Buggin' Blues
album: Kitty, Daisy & Lewis
05. Tindersticks - Black Smoke
album: Falling Down A Mountain
06. My Bloody Valentine - You Made Me Realise
album: You Made Me Realise 12"
07. Massive Attack - Safe From Harm
album: The Best Of
08. Long Distance Calling - Apparitions
album: Avoid The Light
09. Fu Manchu - Bionic Astronautics
album: Signs Of Infinite Power
10. Them Crooked Vultures - Mind Eraser, No Chaser
album: Them Crooked Vultures
11. Gabor Szabo - Summertime
album: Psychedelic Jazz compilation
